Beautiful skin no longer needs to remain just a dream for you. Let this 4 step guide transform your skin to give it the glow, softness and smoothness you’ll love to maintain.

Good skin is everyone’s dream and yet we all know that having an enviously flawless skin does not come easy. You either, have to be born with just the perfect good skin genes or else, be consistent enough to make sure your skin remains glowing and flawless through the years.

For those of us falling in the latter category, good news comes with this 4-step guide on skincare; that teaches the proper way to build a daily skincare regime promising results worth the effort.

For any good skincare regimen to work it is important that you know your skin type. Your skin type depends upon the amount of oil produced by your skin. Broadly, there are five types of skin: oily skin, dry skin, normal skin, combination skin and sun-damaged skin. Make sure that the products you use for daily skincare correspond to your skin type for best results.

Good Skin Trivia:

  • Do not use soaps on the face and neck as they are harsh for the skin.
  • Cleansing too often in the day does not ensure good skin.
  • Avoid washing face with too hot or too cold water. It damages the capillaries.
  • Avoid using big grain scrubs as they have the potential to damage or scar the skin.
  • Many people consider toning as the third step; however, it is not an essential step if your cleanser removes excessive oil from your face effectively.
  • Sun exposure is the most common cause of skin damage.

Our skincare regimen focuses on simplicity and consistency; involving the four basic steps of – Cleansing, Exfoliating, Moisturizing and Applying Sunscreen.

Step-1: Cleansing:
You must look for a skin type appropriate cleanser for yourself. Remember to buy face washes instead of soaps. The general rule here is to buy clear gels for oily skins and creamy face washes for dry skin types. Cleansing twice a day generally works well. At other times just splashes of water are required as per the need.

Procedure: the best method of cleansing your face is to first remove all make-up with a good make-up remover. Then splash your face with warm water. This opens the clogged pores and helps remove the accumulated oil and dirt easily. Then, using just a pea-size amount of cleanser; rub all over the face and neck. To wash, use cool water. Follow this procedure every day, before going to bed and after getting up in the morning.

Step-2: Exfoliating:
People usually overlook the importance of exfoliation in skincare and often do not exfoliate their skin properly. Microdermabrasion or scrubbing, skin peeling and retinoid are some of the best ways of exfoliation, which needs to be done every alternate day if it’s a mild exfoliant and every week for a moderate to strong exfoliant.

You may exfoliate your face with microdermabrasion scrubs that contain micro granules to gently remove dead skin cells. This done once a week helps keep skin in good health. Avoid using scrubs with big grains. Chemical skin peeling although expensive keeps you glowing for more than a month. However, you can try the variety of peel off face packs available off the shelf. Many moisturizing creams and scrubs contain retinoid, which not only removes dead skin cells but, also produces collagen in skin cells. It works miraculously on the skin filling fine lines and large pores.

Step 3: Moisturization:
Irrespective of the skin type, moisturization is a must for everyone. Moisturizers help the skin to retain its moistness and thus delay signs of aging such as dryness that leads to fine lines and wrinkles. While over moisturizing your skin can lead to clogged pores, pimples and acne; it is best to apply a good quality moisturizer as and when your skin feels tight and dry or after you wash your face.

Step 4: Applying Sunscreen:
Using sunscreens is the most necessary tip to maintain good skin. You may either invest in a good sun screen or go in for a moisturizer containing Mexoryl or Helioplex, with UV protection. In case of the latter, it is best to purchase a separate night cream as well. However, if you want your skin to look younger and fresh for long kits best never to skip this step.

A flawlessly attractive skin needs just a tiny bit of consistency from your end; something that you can easily engrave in your daily routine with a little extra effort.
