Decrease in Testosterone levels is often seen in men largely due to age related factors and sometimes also due to certain other health conditions. Low levels of testosterone may cause several other health problems in men and therefore, replenishing them with hormone replacement therapy works as a good solution.

Hormones play a very important role in maintaining health. They are responsible for controlling the growth of cells and healthy functioning of internal organs. The symptoms of low testosterone levels are evident in several forms in the body. Although a blood test will reveal low hormonal levels, other behavioral changes are also indicative of this deficiency. Some of the most common symptoms are low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, trouble in achieving orgasm, inability to impregnate a woman, numbness in the genital region, constant fatigue, loss of muscle mass, moodiness and obesity.

HRT for men helps in replenishing hormone levels especially testosterone, in the body. This can be a long drawn treatment. Hormones are replenished in the body through injections, pills, gels, patches and creams. Testosterone replenishment can also be implanted beneath the skin so that the body gets a constant supply of the hormone. The most effective ways of HRT are testosterone patches, intramuscular testosterone injections and gels. It has been found that testosterone pills are not only unsatisfactory in their performance, but also increase risk of bad cholesterol, cardiovascular ailments and liver dysfunctions.

However, it is very important to take carefully regulated doses of testosterone replenishments. A doctor’s advice is very essential. Excess testosterone in the body is as undesirable as low testosterone levels. Testosterone levels in the body can be maintained optimally by regular exercise and a robust diet. An active sex life also helps in maintaining optimum testosterone in the body.
