dark underarmsAs good as you might look in a sleeveless blouse or dress, you will most likely be hesitant to wear one if you have dark underarms. Dark underarms is a common problem for women especially those with fair skin. It is also a big issue for pregnant women who experience this due to hormonal changes.

The darkening of the armpits is not the natural progression of your body as you get older as some might think. It can be caused by something you’ve probably applied or a possible skin infection. If it is caused by bacteria, the immediate response should be to consult a physician instead of treating it yourself. If it is non-bacterial in nature, then we have some simple home remedies for you.

Lemon : Perhaps the most common home-made treatment for dark underarms is lemon. It is a natural bleaching agent that doesn’t require you to add anything to it to make it effective. Simply rub slices of lemon on your armpits and wash it off after 15 minutes. Sometimes lemon can irritate your skin. When this happens, apply moisturizer on your underarms to soften the skin.

Baking powder: Another helpful remedy for lightening dark underarms is baking powder. Daily application of baking soda for 10 minutes at a time helps make your underarms look whiter. The skin will peel off revealing new lighter skin. It’s also best that you do this after you shower.

Potato : It may surprise you that potato is a good whitening agent. Just rub a slice of potato on your armpits and see how it can do wonders for you. Another way of doing it is grating the potato and applying the juice secreted from it. Wash the juice and residue after 15 minutes. Potatoes have natural bleaching components that will lighten your dark underarms.

Sandalwood and rose water :To derive a thick paste from this mixture, rub sandalwood stick on a wooden board with rose water. Apply the paste on your underarms, wait for it to dry completely, and wash it after. This mixture will effectively lighten your underarm skin tone. Aside from that, sandalwood is also a great coolant.

Milk mixture:dark-underarms To come up with a milk paste, mix one tablespoon of curd, one teaspoon of gram flour, and a pinch of turmeric. Mix these ingredients together then spread them on your underarms. Leave it there for 20 minutes and rinse well after. This milk mixture will help lighten your dark armpits.

Cucumber juice :To produce this paste you’ll be needing one teaspoon of cucumber juice, one teaspoon of lime juice, and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix these elements and spread the paste mixture on your underarms. Let it stay there for 20 minutes then rinse well.

Home-made scrub: Home-made scrub for dark underarms is easy to make. Instead of using soap to wash and clean your armpits, you can make this home-made scrub. Just mix one-half cup of sugar, two tablespoons of sea salt, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of olive oil, and two to three drops of lemon juice. Mix them until it turns into a paste. Use a loofah with this mixture and scrub your underarms for two to three minutes then rinse with warm water.

There are many solutions to dark underarms. You don’t need to spend so much just to lighten its skin tone. All you need are certain ingredients that you can find at home or in the supermarket. Simply mix it up and apply it on your skin. Natural mixtures like these are far better than dermatological procedures to whiten your armpits. Some of which can be more potent, too! Home-made remedies are cheaper than commercial whitening products. Plus, it is less threatening to your skin. Regain your confidence in wearing sleeveless tops once you’ve tried these home-made remedies for yourself!
